Phoenix Organic Feed Story
Phoenix - Coordinator
I am just a guy who started a chicken coop to save money on eggs. Then I started learning about RoundUp Ready Soy, BT Corn, GMO Canola and antibiotics in conventional feeds. I felt their was no point in raising my own eggs if I was just going to feed impurities. But organic feed cost almost $0.80 per pound, which brought my cost for a dozen eggs to $5.50, plus my time to gather eggs and feed and water the birds......It didn't make sense!, especially when grocery stores sell free-range organic eggs for $4.00 per dozen.
If stores can sell organic fed eggs for $4 per dozen, then I knew they were paying less for layer feed. However, the minimums to get a volume discount where huge, so I started asking around Phoenix area if anyone else wanted to team up and order feed together. It didn't take long until we hit the minimum of 2500lbs.
Now that we have surpassed our volume minimums, we have been fine tuning the feed formulations. It seems most informed health nuts who order from us want to avoid soy. As more information about GMOs surfaced we have eliminated the worst GMO crops completely from a couple of our layer and broiler feeds. Hence our, "Non-soy, non-corn, non-canola USDA certified 100% organic coarse ground layer mash feed."
I am happy to say a dozen eggs now cost me only, $2.50 per dozen, and they are soy free, corn free, canola free, organic, free range eggs. Of course, the eggs are indescribably better than any $4 dozen of eggs found in the best of stores.
I am proud to help make these premium USDA certified organic feeds grains and flours available at a low cost through our bi-monthly organic feed grain and flour orders. There are currently over 30 types of feed and food (food grade) available to the local backyard farmers in the Phoenix metro AZ area enjoying these orders every two months.
Tucson Organic Feed Origin
Tucson - Coordinators
We bring this feed to Tucson for ourselves our families and our community. As two moms we are so healthy we even feed our food good food. Double protection!
The cliche is,
"You are what you eat." so if your chicken are eating poison, their livers don't always filter the barrage of toxins they eat in food. So we just avoid the toxins. by the time your eggs and meat get to your plate.
We're not hear to convince anyone, we just want to bring a good clean feed to our animals and help GMO free people save a dollar when they are watchiing our for their families.
